Gustavo Gili hired TwoPoints.Net to design the jacket of the book "Lettering". The book explains old and new production techniques in typography. We worked with one of our typefaces, the "TpMartini", an interpretation of a neo-classical Antiqua, in order to make the book look neither too old or too modern. Additionally we let the typography emboss in a carton with canvas structure. The lively orange gave it a fresher appearance.

Lupi Asensio and Martin Lorenz founded TwoPoints.Net in 2007 and are paving the way for new and exceptional design work.
Their book Left, Right, Up, Down: New Directions in Signage und Wayfinding is just one exciting example of how the Barcelona-based couple combines intuition and ratio, the subjective and the objective, and the experimental with the traditional.
We trekked all the way up to the Catalan capital's mighty Montjuïc to chat about work that excites clients, work that hasn't been done before, and work that does more than just work.
The text was taken from the Gestalten.tv website.

Every typeface has its own charisma. Not only does its presence in design lend an attribute to the identity of a product or project, but also reflect the taste, personality and attitude of the designer behind. Most designers keep a list of favourites with no more than ten typefaces throughout their trajectory. Some make a statement by sticking to just one typeface in every piece of their work. The choice for typeface is the flag held high by designers.

Barcelona. Leaving three days of fever delirium behind, but packing my 38°C degree fever to take along, soaked into a never ending dizziness I find myself in a Taxi to Barcelona Airport, 30 minutes before the departure of my plane to Paris.
Barcelona, noisy as always yet so familiar and hospitable, is about to experience one of its most devastating storms in years. As if intuitive to what is about to happen, our plane escapes as fast as it can, shaken by winter clouds, jumping up and down through the cold cotton like world. It all seems a dream to me, moving like a movie I am watching, but not directing.
Paris - Charles de Gaulle is like landing in Terries “Brazil”. Lost in an 1980’s like science fiction movie scenery, no working bus service, no information, no signage nor direction, just mafia cab services and friendly French soldiers.
Antoine appears out of nothing, ready to create something exceptional, … and there it is again, the excitement of not knowing what is going to happen, entering a different delirium, a different cold cotton world.

The TpKurier-Calligraphic is another child in the TpKurier family and probably the first monospaced calligraphic typeface. The broad pen stroke in an angle of 40 degrees gives the typeface a good legibility even in small point sizes. In contrary to its brothers and sisters this version of the TpKurier has an adjusted lower and upper case "s", "g", "y" and "k".

The idea for the TpDuro goes back to a design by Albrecht Dürer from 1525. It shows a schema to construct a gothic lower case letter. Following the logic of the lower case construction, but not the traditional upper case letters of the gothic, we designed the upper case letters. We repeated the "pixel" of the downstroke (the rotated square module) as often as we could to intensify a contemporean aesthetic. Result is a strong typeface with steady rhythm, working well as a display typeface or for short texts.

The true importance of signage and wayfinding systems only becomes evident when they do not work. This book presents the unsung heroes of functional graphic design.
Left, Right, Up, Down presents current approaches to design that provide orientation in and around buildings. The book provides myriad examples that combine graphic design and architecture so well that the result elegantly meets the specific navigational needs of the situation. The range of attractive, experimental, low-budget, and flexible solutions make it an inspirational and insightful examination of current possibilities for practical applied information graphics.
When trying to get through masses of people quickly at a train station or airport to catch a connection, when looking for the right hospital ward in an emergency, or when simply navigating through large, unfamiliar buildings such as museums, convention centers, or parking garages, one urgently needs orientation. In such situations, signage systems help us find our way effectively in spite of stress, crowds, or circuitousness.

Neuland - The Future of German Graphic Design reveals a previously undiscovered territory - in search of young talent that will shape the future of German graphic design.
Neuland asks questions in place of providing answers: Are preconceived notions about German graphic design correct; does German graphic design really even exist? The answer to these inquires involved a journey to Germany, getting to know its German and immigrant designers, and a trip beyond Germany‘s borders, in pursuit of German designers who live abroad.
Neuland provides a helpful map of information for designers curious about study, lectures, workshops, books, or exhibitions in Germany; those individuals that want to learn about the history of design in Germany.

The typeface became more abstract, more graphic and being of the same family it fitted well with in.

Sergio and Noelia are a couple with a great sense of humor (he is stand-up writer for the Paramont Comedy channel). Their comedy is not pretentious and they approached their wedding planning with the same humor and a very clear desire to be themselves. When they asked us to help with the invitation, we designed a card that reflected the non-conventional and whimsical wedding to be. The photocopied and brightly colored images tell the couple's story, from where they grew up, to how they met, and even includes the spot where the wedding will be held. This almost crude imagery is printed on a pearlescent and textured paper, one that expresses a sense of glamor that we also plan to see during the ceremony.

The TpMartini refers esthetically to typefaces drawn with a pointed nib as the Bodoni or Didot, but with the clear distinction that it is obviously constructed by modules.
The visual system for the Tp Martin is based on a square 5x9-unit grid and three different basic forms with which the font and glyphs are designed. The basic forms consist of a straight line and circles of two different sizes. The line can be extended, but the circles retain their related proportions.
TpMartini only has one weight, but it includes special characters and a real italic.

The TpKurier is the second redesign we did of the Courier. The first redesign from the year 2000 was tutorized by Petr van Blokland and Peter Verheul at the Royal Academy of Arts (Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten / KABK) and even though it was based upon a five-unit grid, it was drawn by hand. Six years later we designed a grid for another version of the Courier, the TpKurier family was born. This version is completely constructed until its last detail. We didn't want to correct the "mistakes" deriving from the use of the grid, but instead make them visible (see "S").
The TpKurier is based on a very simple grid, composed a proportion of four units high by two units wide. A series of other links between them make it possible to form a font from this grid. We felt it was important to consistently work within these limitations so that any unexpected asperities would help provide the font with its character. Even though it is a rough constructed typeface it was important to us to design real italic lower case letters and not just a sloped roman (see "a", "g" or "s"). The first family published contained a serif and sans-serif version of the TpKurier, with italic and bold.
