Gustavo Gili hired TwoPoints.Net to design the jacket of the book "Lettering". The book explains old and new production techniques in typography. We worked with one of our typefaces, the "TpMartini", an interpretation of a neo-classical Antiqua, in order to make the book look neither too old or too modern. Additionally we let the typography emboss in a carton with canvas structure. The lively orange gave it a fresher appearance.

The TpKurier-Calligraphic is another child in the TpKurier family and probably the first monospaced calligraphic typeface. The broad pen stroke in an angle of 40 degrees gives the typeface a good legibility even in small point sizes. In contrary to its brothers and sisters this version of the TpKurier has an adjusted lower and upper case "s", "g", "y" and "k".

The idea for the TpDuro goes back to a design by Albrecht Dürer from 1525. It shows a schema to construct a gothic lower case letter. Following the logic of the lower case construction, but not the traditional upper case letters of the gothic, we designed the upper case letters. We repeated the "pixel" of the downstroke (the rotated square module) as often as we could to intensify a contemporean aesthetic. Result is a strong typeface with steady rhythm, working well as a display typeface or for short texts.

TwoPoints.Net designed this year's Christmas greeting material for the Col·legi Oficial Disseny Gràfic Catalunya (Professional Association of Graphic Designers in Catalonia). Instead of sending a postcard or chocolates, we wanted to make something useful during Christmas -- a kind of play on the idea of a present -- so we thought to ourselves that there would be nothing better than designing a custom wrapping paper for the holidays!

Neuland - The Future of German Graphic Design reveals a previously undiscovered territory - in search of young talent that will shape the future of German graphic design.
Neuland asks questions in place of providing answers: Are preconceived notions about German graphic design correct; does German graphic design really even exist? The answer to these inquires involved a journey to Germany, getting to know its German and immigrant designers, and a trip beyond Germany‘s borders, in pursuit of German designers who live abroad.
Neuland provides a helpful map of information for designers curious about study, lectures, workshops, books, or exhibitions in Germany; those individuals that want to learn about the history of design in Germany.
MONDAY 08.06.2009
The TpKurier-Filled is a display typeface we developed for the book "Neuland" in which we use the TpKurier throughout the whole book. We needed a typeface with high graphical qualities that would work well with the TpKurier. In a lucky accident we removed the counter shapes of the letter. The typeface became more abstract, more graphic and being of the same family it fitted well with in.

Cadavre is a project by Julien Arts, a young graphic designer from the Netherlands. He invited seven international designers and offices to create indvidual letters, which would be combined into a poster reflecting the "Cadavre Exquis" principles. Since we liked our letter and its countless versions so much, we eventually made an entire typeface out of it.

Montjuïc de Nit (Montjuic at night) is a festival that will be celebrated yearly in the Montjuïc area of Barcelona. The beauty of this festival is the participation of the various institutions (theatres, museums, cinemas, swimming pools, etc.) located on Montjuïc. All of these institutions are invited to open their doors during an entire night dedicated to Montjuïc de Nit.

TpLlum is a typeface that we designed for the festival Montjuïc de Nit. Llum means light in Catalan. Because it is used over a dark background, it was important that the typeface is very bright, made possible by its heavy cut. It works especially well when backlit.

The TpMartini refers esthetically to typefaces drawn with a pointed nib as the Bodoni or Didot, but with the clear distinction that it is obviously constructed by modules.
The visual system for the Tp Martin is based on a square 5x9-unit grid and three different basic forms with which the font and glyphs are designed. The basic forms consist of a straight line and circles of two different sizes. The line can be extended, but the circles retain their related proportions.
TpMartini only has one weight, but it includes special characters and a real italic.

For our friends Color and the Kids we first asked ourselves, "How could we create a design for other designers?" In answer to this challenge, we developed a grid format-based corporate identity, a kind of formwork that established its own character, but was flexible enough so that the designers could then customize the "infill" in whatever manner they desired. Looking at the results, it has been a very interesting match-up of designers versus designers...

The TpKurier is the second redesign we did of the Courier. The first redesign from the year 2000 was tutorized by Petr van Blokland and Peter Verheul at the Royal Academy of Arts (Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten / KABK) and even though it was based upon a five-unit grid, it was drawn by hand. Six years later we designed a grid for another version of the Courier, the TpKurier family was born. This version is completely constructed until its last detail. We didn't want to correct the "mistakes" deriving from the use of the grid, but instead make them visible (see "S").
The TpKurier is based on a very simple grid, composed a proportion of four units high by two units wide. A series of other links between them make it possible to form a font from this grid. We felt it was important to consistently work within these limitations so that any unexpected asperities would help provide the font with its character. Even though it is a rough constructed typeface it was important to us to design real italic lower case letters and not just a sloped roman (see "a", "g" or "s"). The first family published contained a serif and sans-serif version of the TpKurier, with italic and bold.

The TpFloral is a modular typeface inspired in the "kombinationsschrift" by Josef Albers from the year 1926. In contrary to its precursor it is based only upon two basic elements. A quarter circle and a square. Its name derives from the form of the letter "v" which reminded us to a tulip.
